Gente intensa/gente moderna

Fashion weeks : the big five.

At this time of year you will be used to hear, read and talk about  fashion weeks.
It's the way  the fashion industry presents to the world its future collections to the delight of shoppers, fashionistas, cloners, fashion editors, celebrity, upstarts, realistic, dreamers and lovers of design and fashion.
There are four cities which host the most important world fashion weeks. They´re called the  big four. But I would be very ugly not include any Spanish fashion week and, frankly, with the support of Mercedes (which also hosts NY fashion week, Paris and Milan) has managed to put the same level as the others. It has lost its Spanish feeling that it has while named "The Cibeles Runway" but now is more global and international. In order of importance the ranking is as follows, the big five: Paris, followed by New York, Milan, London and Madrid.
These are not the only fashion weeks in the world. They have been joined by an endless list of new "fashion weeks"  from Chicago to Reykjavik, via Kuala Lumpur, Rio de Janeiro, Bombay, Cyprus ... some of these are thematic as the week of Miami swimwear fashion week , or Berlin and Vancouver ecofashion weeks, the bridal ones or even Flamenco Fashion week hosted in Seville.
Each has a different profile or character. In the case of Paris its dinctintife skill is haute couture , in NY is sportswear, Milan is elegance, so edgy London and Madrid which is characterized by the diversity of styles.
Each runway show usually  lasts about 15-20'. It seems celebrities don´t mind about waiting 1-2 hours to get the show started if paparazzi take photos showing they are there.
The first fashion week was held in NY in 1943. Being the hub of Paris fashion and inspiring place where you had to be, the Americans found very difficult to travel there during the world war. So the good of Eleanor Lambert came and creat a what she called, Editorial Week  in which American designers showed  their work to publishers. The ones that rejected their work before because they found Paris collections more chic. Only editors could attend the presentations. War ended and travelling to Paris was again safe. Two  other cities who had recently created their own fashion week were added to the fashion tour: London and Milan.
The agenda is as follows:
January: AW (autumn-winter) ready to wear (RTW)  man collection next week in Milan and next in Paris. And the following week in Paris Haute Couture.
February-March: AW RTW woman. NY-London-Madrid-Milan and finally Paris.
June: SS RTW man collection in Milan and following week in Paris. And the next week in Paris Haute Couture woman.
September-October: SS (Spring-summer) RTW  collection  woman. NY-London-Madrid-Milan and finally Paris.

Major collections, couture and reprises.
Due to the biannual collections AW and SS (presented in the fashion weeks) and the exclusive and restrictiveness of haute couture has naturally emerged (to shorten the wait) new more fresh and more commercial  collections often about two or three months before the main collection. For AW this reprise is called Pre-fall and for SS is Resort / cruise ... very evocative.

Currently celebrating fashion week in Paris, so soon we will have an overview of upcoming trends.

Ehhh...mira, NO. (Copyright itscamilleco.com y molleybuckley.com)
Conozcamos los secretos de los chevrones:
Menos efecto adelgazante
Multicolor
Prendas largas (vestidos largos o pantalones)
Bicolor
Prendas cortas
Combinación con tonos neutros
Prendas no ceñidas.

Trends from the road: chevron stripes.

Trendy chevrons! This is a cool, fresh, young and very flattering pattern that we usually find more in summer than in winter. So let's get ready to our particular know-how with it properly this summer.

It´s important to learn the difference between chevrons and herringbone pattern. Chevron stripes are opposite and diagonal lines in one stroke, you can draw without lifting the pen from the paper. By contrast, herringbone are in two separate lines. Usually we see the chevrons in summer fabrics (coton, modal. ..) while herringbone is usually found in winter cloths (tweed, wool ...).

We will find them in various thicknesses, colors and orientations. In either case they will become the center of our look and we must combine it with neutral tones. Also combine with small Liberty printsl, but I am nothing particularly fan of that. As it is a 100% graphical print it´s easier to our figure to passed unnoticed.

Less slimming effect
stripes narrower (and therefore more numerous)
multicolor.
long garments (gowns or pants)
combination with non-neutral colors
Bodycon or skin-tight clothes. (the lines can be distorted by our curves).

More flattering effect
wider stripes (and hence in less amount)
bicolor
short garments
combination with neutral tones
no tight clothes. (Diagonal lines are straight and not curved, so the volume can not be distinguished if it comes from the strength of the pattern or the body.)

This is a very versatile pattern. From  a workoutfit, to the beach, to an evening date, until the evening through a ceremony.

Prendas a extinguir (II): Ear cuffs.

Bar Refaeli
Mischka Barton poniéndonos ojillos.

Alicia Keys...contigo ya hablaremos.

¿Te atreverías con esta tendencia? Se supone que es lo más...

Eradicating fashion(II): Ear cuffs.

It´s been a long time since our first "Clothing to extinguish". It´s a very crutial and serious thing to crucify one type of garment. We know that fashion is cyclical and randomly we find ourselves wearing something that, not even in your worst nightmare, you can´t imagine wearing that garment, but sooner or later and now in real life you shop and dress it. In my particular case we can apply this to: sneakers, skinny jeans, Hunter wellies, harem pants ...
Once we are sure what clothes we won´t regret to have extinguish we have to talk about… ear cuffs.
We can describe ear cuffs as a frame earring, integral earring, surrounding earring… It is said that the first manufacturer was Marcel Boucher  a French jeweler whom, early last century, went to NY where he was the delight of all Hollywood stars with transgressors and luxurious designs.
We can find  hippies, ethnic, punks, or  baroque earcuffs wether its  ornament is feathers, chains, spikes, or precious jewels. This year we have seen on the runways of Alexander Wang, Chanerl, Lagerfeld, Gaultier.
Usually carried only one (as I said in the case of Aristocrazy) and, to emphasize it its would be better to match it with an uphairdo or sided mane. Celebrities like to wear it so. It´s supposed to be a must.

Me encanta.

Valentine´s day trhough the window.

We are used to see Valentine´s day windows at lingerie stores, jewelry shops, in bakeries ... hard to be original. Hearts here, hearts there.
But the creative minds of the world have come together to hang their pictures on the Internet. Mydressdecoder has find them and spread to its followers to enjoy their work.

At Portobello Road in London, not in Oviedo, we find this shoe store CleoB which catches  our attention from a few blocks before reaching the store.

A window display that struck me is this florist´s Australian one that, i´m afraid, that my research has failed to find out which name corresponds. But it's amazing. Original, stunning and ... wwowww!

Isn´t the world full of great ideas? Why not celebrate Valentine taking some delicious tacos?I love it.

We are thankful because these original ideas take away the insipidness that invades the streets around Valentine´s day, right?
