El patito feo ya es un cisne.

Florence Welch es lo que podríamos denominar una tía no muy agraciada pero que ha aprendido a sacarse partido. Sus fuertes rasgos, fríos ojos y la ausencia absoluta de grasa corporal le dan un aspecto anodino que nada se corresponde con la fuerza de su personal voz.

 

Pasó  de vestirse a base de American Apparel  (ya sabéis: camisetas básicas, sudaderas lisas, pantalones con tiros infinitos…) a ser invitada por la mismísima Anna Wintour para cantar en  la gala del Met en el 2011 y también este 2012. También ha sido invitada por el káiser Karl Lagerfeld para que pusiera voz saliendo de una concha gigante en el subacuático show de presentación de la temporada primavera/verano 2012 de Chanel. ¿Te parece poco? Pues Gucci la ha vestido en su anterior gira norteamericana y Frida Gianinni (directora creativa de Gucci) repetirá con la colección otoño/invierno 2012 para la gira de Ceremonials.

Las palabras de Frida describen a la perfección a Florence: “Para su estilo sobre el escenario hemos querido crear una estética romántica y moderna que interprete el oscuro glamour y la dramática sensualidad de Florence”. Conseguido.

 Y a base de reinventarse ha conseguido romper con los prejuicios que los indies tienen con la música dance. En una colaboración con Calvin Harris (el David Guetta escocés) ha conseguido que “Spectrum” suene y sea imposible no mover el esqueleto…¡qué expresión tan antigua, por Dios!

The ugly duckling is now a beautiful swan.

Florence Welch is what we might call a not even average beautiful girl but she has learned to reinvent herself. Herstrong facial features, cold eyesand the complete absence of body fat give her a blandlooking that it doesn´t match with the strength of her personal voice.
She went from a tomboy look by American Apparel (basic shirts, hoodies… plain pants with endless top blocks) to be invited by Anna Wintour herself to sing at the Met Gala in 2011 and this 2012. She has also been invited by The Kaiser,  Karl Lagerfeld, to sprout of a giant shell and sing in the underwater show of the Chanel Spring Summer 2012 presentationl. Is not that enough? Well Gucci has dressed in her previous North American tour and Frida Giannini (Gucci´s Creative Director) wanted to repeate the experience with her collection for autumn winter 2012 in Florence´s tour for her last album  Ceremonials. http://imgur.com/r/gifs/3PzeH
Frida's words perfectly describe Florence: "For her style on stage we wanted to create a romantic and modern style to reinterpret dark dramatic glamour and sensuality of Florence". Achieved.
And reinventiong after reinvention she has managed to break down prejudices that indies have to dance music. In collaboration with Calvin Harris (the Scottish David Guetta) they had create "Spectrum" . Unable to listen to it and stay still.
